Mother’s Day Weekend 2025 (29-30 March 2025). Please note we are extremely popular for Mother’s Day weekend so we are taking deposits for all bookings due to increased no-shows. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE unless tables are re-sold.

Due to various reasons from being able to cater for everyone all at once to the service levels we aspire to, to the additional demands of groups and complaints from other guests about noise and previous issues relating to group bookings in a small restaurant. If we were a bigger venue it would not be an issue, sorry!

Access Requirements

Josephine’s is very small. We can only accept pushchairs and highchairs before 4pm and by advance booking. We always give priority to elderly and disabled customers. If you fail to declare a pushchair you could be refused admission and will lose any deposit paid.
WHEELCHAIRS
We prioritise bookings for wheelchairs and less able bodied customers wherever possible. There is one step to get into Josephine’s but we do have a ramp. Motorised scooters might need to stay outside though.
We are so sorry but Josephine’s is generally not ideal for pushchairs or prams. We are extremely small and unfortunately do not have the space.
We also do NOT have baby change facilities.

You are more than welcome to book for before 4pm but we need to make you aware of the limited facilities available.
We do not accept ANY pushchairs after 4pm due to it limiting our capacity for evening dining. As a small venue we have to maximise our possible revenue at peak times due to the current economic climate. We’re sorry if this disappoints but this is an issue caused beyond our control.
Please note we do not offer a children’s menu but some dishes may be suitable.
Babies*
Only 1 pushchair allowed due to space restrictions and must be fully collapsible. Please note we do NOT have baby changing facilities.

Please note we are a very popular small independent and being efficient in allocating tables at busy times is essential. It is therefore important that guests turn up on time as well give us time to clear, clean and prepare for the next guests. Please ensure you are aware of the fact that we will have bookings immediately after you.

Mum’s always have special tunes they love. Please enter mum’s favourite 3 songs below. They must be suitable for Josephine’s style, there’s no guarantee we can play them, if we can then they will be included on the playlist for your booking slot.
Personalised Message Scroll?
We offer a complimentary service where you can write a message that we will print out on a scroll, tie with ribbon and present along with the Afternoon Tea. Would you like this? It will help us if you can add your message now. We can add later but must be received by 20th March.
PLEASE WRITE AT LEAST 25 WORDS. Message is designed and printed on special decorative paper.
We’ll aim to have the scroll ready on your table for when you arrive and presented on one of our stunning ornaments. Choose which one you would like. These are NOT to keep! For Mother’s Day bookings we allocate based on first requested basis.

Afternoon Tea at Josephine’s is designed to be an experience. That starts the moment you come in. The message scrolls have proven to be immensely popular, bringing tears of joy to many people and are very instagrammable.

Please enter in the Special Requirements section later in the process any special requests. We are generally unable to accommodate special requests on the day (eg no butter, no fish, no cucumber, no chocolate, plain scones etc).

Booking Requires Confirmation

We will contact you within 24 hours (usually within 6 hours) if there is a problem accepting your booking. We process bookings strictly on a first come first served basis. If we cannot accommodate you we will contact you.
